How you can get involved…
Be a donor!
The Salem Royal Family KIDS Camp is funded by people like you who care about kids and families! Your generous financial donation in any amount is how we are able to offer a camp where a child experiencing foster care can recover from pain and trauma and have the opportunity to discover hope and a future.
Click the red DONATE button above to give today! We are looking for 100 donors to give $100 by July 2024! - Thank YOU for helping a child!
Be a volunteer!
The Salem Royal Family KIDS Camp is operated with a group of generous volunteer staff, serving together to make camp happen each year. If you’re interested in getting involved but aren’t sure where you fit, take a look at the list of opportunities below to see where your willingness and capabilities might lead you.
New Counselors and Staff
Camp counselors (must be at least 18 years old) have the unique privilege of devoting a week of your life to loving and affirming 1-2 campers who may never have experienced this kind of positive attention from an adult willing to spend quality time together each day.
Assistant counselors (must be at least 16 years old) offer support to the camp counselors and campers and are assigned to a ‘cabin’ group. You’ll participate in all the activities, build relationships, and help meet the needs of campers as the counselor supervises.
Relief counselors help at camp, typically in the evening hours to provide a break for the full-time counseling team. You’ll be with a “cabin” group along side other relief counselors and enjoy the evening activities with campers. Training is required.
Other Full-Time Camp Staff are needed in daily camp operations such as nurses, behavior specialists, activities director, deans of men and women, coaches, and others depending upon the need.
As a camp counselor, assistant counselor or other full-time staff, you will receive 8-12 hours of training to better equip you to relate to children who come from hard places.
Returning Counselors and Staff

Story of ONE MOMENT that mattered -
My favorite moment began in the midst of a nervous camper moment. It was time to ride the horses and my camper was very scared of them initially. After I assured him it was ok to sit back and watch his friends ride around first, he warmed up to the idea of giving it a try. With his hand in mine he was on his horse and we made it around the first lap successfully! His anxiousness quickly turned into a ginormous smile! I couldn’t help but smile too when he asked to go on lap after lap and even asked the guide if the horse could trot faster!
My camper and I shared plenty of high-fives together as we celebrated his triumph over his fear. It was life changing to be able to be the voice of encouragement and support in my camper’s life even for just a week as the Lord changed both our hearts simultaneously and taught us that we are more than conquerors. -Camp Counselor Evan, 2022
