"No one in her life had taken the time..." From Camp Counselor Grace.
“Royal Family Kids Camp has been one of my most rewarding, redemptive, God-centered, and beautiful experiences. RFK is special because of the kids who come to it every year. I thought I’d be able to work in a campers life, but I didn’t realize how much it would change me. One of my favorite memories at RFK was when I had the opportunity to teach my camper how to ride a bike. No one in her life had taken that time and she couldn’t go out and bike with her friends because of this. Her face smiled brightly and people around her cheered as she rode for the first time, making the lesson so special. By giving your time and your love as a camp counselor or volunteer, you can help reshape a kid's mindset. Royal Family Kid’s Camp is truly made special by the fantastic people that volunteer each year and the children God handpicks to become campers.”

“Why I love volunteering at RFK” from Camp Counselor Diane:
“Where do I start? First off, it's the kids. They are awesome. They are fun, encouraging, appreciative of everything we do for them, and just watching them have fun is excellent. Here is just one example:
One of our days is ‘birthday day’ on which every child is treated as the birthday child. Each camper gets a personal sized cake, then a birthday gift box when we get back to the cabin. One of my campers got a pair of flip flops in her birthday box. A plain ordinary pair of flip flops. She danced around the cabin, waving them around for all to see, calling out ‘I GOT FLIP FLOPS!!! I GOT FLIP FLOPS!!!’ She just couldn't believe got them. Flip flops! Makes me appreciate what I have. If I can spend a week with these kids and give them something to smile about, I'll do it as long as I'm able to.”

"Not the Same" from Camp Counselor Raychal: "Seeing the campers doing an activity they love, or finding joy in a new activity is great. Their smiles light up their faces. It seems almost crazy that four or five days can make a difference, but we see it happen every year. The way the kids come to camp is not the same way they leave. A light returns to their eyes as we are able to just shower them in love and let them be kids.”

"You make a difference!" from Camp Counselor Jessica... "When I first volunteered for RFK I started as a relief counselor. Even just being there part time, as a relief counselor, I can say the atmosphere is addictive, just feeling the love for those kids and the unity of the team was overwhelming. Then came the big dive, my first time as a full counselor. I have to admit it was terrifying the thought of being responsible for 1 or 2 kids I didn't know anything about, at least as relief counselor you were just a big group all hanging out together. I learned that year just truly how amazing the team works, I never felt alone or solely responsible for the campers I had. The moment camp started I could feel God behind me and the support of all the other counselors and staff, it washed all those "alone" fears away. Everything just seems to fall into place and you leave camp with the feeling like you made a difference in not only the campers but also your peers."
